Block and Beam Flooring in Swindon & across our area

Suspended block-and-beam floors installed level and ready for build.

We install suspended block-and-beam ground floors — setting the beams to the correct centres, infilling with blocks and grouting — to give a strong, level, well-ventilated floor over the void.

Ideal over poor ground, sloping plots or where a solid slab isn't practical, and ready for insulation and screed above.

We set the beams to the centres specified by the flooring manufacturer's design, check bearing onto the walls is correct, and grout the blockwork solidly so there's no movement once the floor is loaded. The sub-floor void and airbricks are formed at the same time so ventilation is right from day one, rather than an afterthought once the floor's already down. If your project already has a flooring design from a manufacturer, send it over and we'll price and install to that exact specification.

Block and Beam Flooring — your questions

When is block and beam better than a slab?

On poor or sloping ground, over a large void, or where you want a quicker, drier floor that isn't relying on ground support — block and beam is often the answer.

Do you sort the sub-floor ventilation?

Yes — we form the void and airbricks so the floor is properly ventilated to spec.

Is block and beam more expensive than a solid slab?

It can cost a little more upfront, but on poor ground, sloping sites or where speed matters it often works out more cost-effective overall once you account for the ground preparation a slab would otherwise need.

Can block and beam flooring be insulated?

Yes - insulation is fitted between or over the beams as standard on modern builds to meet current thermal regulations, and we'll build to whatever your Building Control submission specifies.

How much does block and beam flooring cost?

It's priced per square metre and depends on the span, beam centres and any insulation specified in your design. We'll quote once we have your flooring layout from the manufacturer or engineer.
